In the backwaters of Rioja, Telmo Rodriguez is seen as revolutionary. Sprung from his family's Remelluri estate, he trained in Bordeaux, became a consultant and now creates some of the most hedonistic wines in Rioja's Alavesa, relentlessly seeking out and restoring forgotten vineyards to glory. From ancient, terraced vines, Lanzaga is pure Tempranillo, and was matured for 14 months in large oak and the barrique Violets on the nose; smoky, intense red fruit flavours; ideal with lamb. |
