In our twenty vintage association with winemaking dynamo, Ernst Loosen, he has never faltered. We visit his Mosel-side estate just a couple of hundred meters out of the heavily timbered, tourist trap of Bernkastel. Before he took over the reins from his father in '88, the wines were good, Today they are unfailingly terrific. Low yields and thoughtful stewardship of some of the Mosel's very prime sites is the key to his success. |
